About this Talk
“Guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life.” The goal of this Mom to Mom chat is to discuss emotions that can rise up not in our children, but in us! From doubt, depression, and feeling like a failure, to frustration, impatience, and anger, Linda will share insights and a bit of her journey toward creating an atmosphere where our relationship with our child with special needs and with God can flourish. Linda believes facing and working through these emotions in ourselves helps pave the way for a better learning environment, long term intimacy between parent and child, and provides an honest role model for our kids to establish their own relationship with Jesus who loves them through the messiness of life. Linda will share some practical techniques to combat the negativity of emotions using real examples from her own experiences teaching and raising their daughter with a global brain injury. You are not alone. With God’s help and an increased awareness of what is causing our negative emotions, we can take some genuine steps to turn feeling like a failure into confidence, impatience into gentleness and anger into peace.
